I started reading bible devotionals since I was in college. I have always wanted to pass on the same habit to my children. Heinel started his at 8 years old thru Veggie Tales. With Hendrix, I know that the only way for him to be familiar with devotionals is if I read to him.
It was tough for him at first. Listening to his mom read chapters and verses from the bible requires patience. He used to grab the bible, whine, and complain especially if the reading for the day is too long. But overtime, I noticed that he got used to it. He is now quiet whenever I read to him. We even get to “talk” about the reflections and what it means. I guess he sees it as part of our morning routine. My heart is happy to be part of Hendrix’s spiritual journey. I pray that together with the familiarity with the word of God, i hope it gives him comfort to know that God loves him.

Fun fact: the bible we are reading is the one that was blessed during Daddy S and I’s church wedding. We’ve been using it eversince.
