Information is Power in This Pandemic

With the recent developments of covid-19, the challenge I impose upon myself is to make sure that my sons are not only well-informed but also responsible and calm.
It is natural to be worried especially for our children. I am a firm believer that we can only protect ourselves if we arm ourselves with the correct information from reliable sources. My sons and I watched documentaries of previous cases of pandemics and we learned a lot; the sources, how it spread, how it was handled and how it was eventually resolved. Watching it with my children allowed open discussion to happen freely on how we can learn from the past to protect ourselves now. If there are updates on covid-19, we share it with them. it is best that they hear it from us, from home. We hear each other out; one’s fears, anxieties and worries. We comfort each other.
We are at a challenging time. Being responsible, informed and calm  will not only protect ourselves, our families but everyone around us. Social media can be a source of information, but it can be a mix of correct and erroneous ones. It is where our roles as parents come in.
Most of all, now is the time to pray for each other and for the word.
