Welcome To Our Home

I realized that since posting about the construction of our home, I was not able to make any follow up posts. Well, guess what? We already moved in! It has been 4 months but I honestly feel like we had been here far longer than that because so much has already happened. We were also getting accustomed to space that we now have. It was kind of weird at first having much to move around!
One thing I learned from building a home is that it will be exactly the way I expected it too be. What we envisioned and planned in paper will have some changes once we are actually living in it. One example is the family hall wherein we imagined to be a sort of gaming/entertainment area where everyone can watch TV and play video games while having barbecue in the balcony. However, we were not able to factor in how humid it is here in Manila during the summer! That is one major adjustment that we will be facing in the coming days. More of my stories on these in my next posts.
However, for most parts, we are almost done with the interiors and we are delighted to see how it now shows who we are as a family; our interests, our personalities, what our treasured memories are. The one thing I learned about styling our home is to take my time and not rush in putting everything together. The right furniture, wall decor, lighting fixture, even that area rug, will come and instantly I will know that “it’s the one”. Do you like watching house tours? I do! My greatest takeaway from having binged on about a hundred of those tours is that a home does not have to be perfect, it has to be warm, comfy and welcoming.
I am learning so much from this and I am grateful that I get to experience this with my family (who I must commend for being so supportive of all of my ideas!). Imagine the number of times we moved our furniture to find that perfect spot?!  We had quite a few laughs and headaches in this whole process! It is memories like these that makes this home “ours”. Until my next update!
