Life Re-adjusted

Things had been pretty busy in our side of the globe. School is in full swing for Heinel, while twice week therapies for Hendrix. Daddy S and I are working from home on most days, although when the need calls for it, we report onsite our respective offices. It is pretty safe to say that we, in a way, got the hand of this current situation right now.

In our effort to keep a sense of normalcy, we also adjusted the way we handle our certain habits. Since we know it is important for Hendrix to have some time outdoors, we still go out for our daily early morning walks. We usually go out between 6am-6:45am, just enough sunshine before it gets too humid or before more neighbors go out to do their own strolls. It is a good way to get some exercise especially for Daddy S. On Sundays, we also try to go for a run. We protect ourselves by wearing a mask and maintain social distancing from other strollers. Having this kind of routine is important for Hendrix.

Heinel, on the other hand, still prefers to stay indoors. We invited him to join our morning walks, but having been inside the house since March, he said that he does not feel safe going out. We respected how he feels. All of us have our own anxieties because of the pandemic. One day when he is ready, I know he will have the courage too.

There is certainly a lot of things that we miss doing; dining out with friends, our date nights, the kids seeing their teachers face to face, but all those we have to forego for the mean time. Although we seemed to have settled in, I will still refrain from calling this our “new normal”. This is definitely not something that should be permanent. For now let me call it, our “new situation”.

In a few months, it will be Christmas. That is something I am really looking forward to for now. No plans on anything big really. I am just looking forward to decorating the tree, wrapping gifts, and planning the menu. It is nice to be looking forward to something, even the simplest of things.

I hope that wherever you are, you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Some days are better than the rest, but I pray that we continue to remain hopeful.
