Today would have been our 13hr flight from Manila to San Francisco to begin our 15-day trip to the United States particularly the West Coast. I can just imagine the excitement and chaos in our house this morning if it pushed through!
This was suppose to be the second part our US trip with the kids. The first was in May 2019 in the East Coast, also for two weeks. If you want to read about it, you can check it out here. If you read about it already, you will now that it was quite an adventure!
We are a bit sad for missing out on this one. For us, this is more than just a yearly vacation but rather a mission, to create more memories with our children, Heinel and Hendrix.
Every year, we had been trying to travel farther away from home. But each year we are also faced with new challenges in taking our dear Hendrix with us. At 8years old, our son is still not walking. In the coming years, should it be safe to travel again, there will be a greater demand for Sherwin and I’s physical strength in carrying him for long periods of time on locations that are not wheelchair friendly. There are more challenges on the list, but for as long as Hendrix’s doctors approve, we will continue taking him with us.
Through the years, Heinel, our eldest has gotten used to our travel routines and has been such a great kid in taking on his roles. Travelling has also strengthened his bond with his brother. Heinel has been wonderful, making sure that Hendrix is comfortable and is eating well all the time.
We might have taken a step back because of the pandemic. But i know that when it is safe again, we will ask ourselves, can Hendrix’s health take it? For as long as the answer is yes, the four of us will continue taking new adventures together.
