Homeschool Situation

We’re approaching 2nd week of our Lockdown in Manila. Schools and  learning  centers are out for three weeks.  This means  kids are at home 24/7.

With the current situation, homeschooling is the new way of learning for my sixth-grader. The first week was all about getting our bearings on. But after that we were able to adjust to our new daily routine:
Heinel chose his weekly learning hours which are 9:30am-11:30am and 2pm-4pm, Mondays-Fridays. In those hours, he does his alternative learning tasks from teachers, projects, and his Kumon worksheets.
The routine helps Heinel to be organized, focused and diligent. By now he has done all schoolwork due for the week. His excess learning hours are spent reading books especially that black Math book. He also loves reading the yellow National Geographic book from his Grandma.
As he abides by his learning hours, so do I. Discussion about schoolwork are limited to those hours, unless he is the one who opens up the conversation. he is free to do what he wants beyond those hours, which currently is learning to play the guitar and playing videogames. Weekdays are definitely his free days.

I am blessed to have such a cooperative son. All of these is something new to Heinel but he makes everything so easy. We all had to adjust  to this new routine. Hopefully, this health crisis will end soon. But for now, we will make the most of each day given to us.
