As Catholic, Lent is the season when we remember the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ. This is widely celebrated in our country as majority of our population are Catholics.
Daddy S and I are both Catholics and so we wanted to instill our faith to our kids as early as now. This year we had our yearly tradition of Visita Iglesia or praying at seven churches. As we visit these 7 churches, we also did the Stations of the Cross or the journey of Christ to the Cross.
The churches that we visited are:
Despite the modern times some old and deeply rooted traditions must remain intact, and this is one of them. Religious traditions like this, strengthens and deepens the foundation of faith into children. As we go through the messages and visuals of the Passion of the Christ, my kids are able to grasp the concept of Jesus’ sacrifices in the way their young minds can interpret for now. We intend to continue doing this for as long as Daddy S and I are strong.
As we went through our journey to these seven churches, I noticed that even though times have changed and people are more busy with life, there are still a lot of families who continue doing the Visita Iglesia and Stations of the Cross. This gives me so much joy because I can see that more parents are still valuing the importance of two things: (1) strong family ties, and (2) love of God by strengthening the religious foundation.
As for us, these are just two of the religious traditions we intend to carry on as a family. I hope that eventually, when my sons have their own families, they will continue what our family started.
