A Lego movie Themed Party for Heinel

“Awesome @ 7”! That is our official tagline for Heinel’s 7th birthday party. He has always been a very shy boy and for a time her really did not like the idea of having a party and having all the attention to him. But big school experiences that started last year made him more confident. He (finally) agreed to celebrate his 7th birthday (much to my delight!) by having a party! If you are thinking of having the same theme for your child, you might be able to get some ideas from our party. Most of our party ideas are from the internet!

The invitation are the guests first impression of the party. The format I got from the internet but changed the icon to “Emmett”, the lead character from the Lego Movie.

Party planning tip: Ask help or expertise of your family members or close friends. You will be surprised at how much those people close to you will be willing to lend a hand. For the invites, I asked the help of my sister, who is a graphic artist, to do the editing. If I opted to do it by myself, it will probably take me days to edit and study Photoshop  But she did it so quickly. Once I ask for changes, she does it in less than 15 minutes! Pretty neat, right?

Party Decor:  It is Lego Movie all the way!

Party Favors I got the loot bag idea from the internet. If you have time, you can actually make it your DIY project. For me, I just gave the concept to my party planner. I was also very specific on the items of the loot bag; just school stuff and cookies or snacks. No candies. I want a party to have a personal touch so my DIY project is the party favor for adults. Our guests love it and it is so easy to make. Check out my post here.

Party Planning Tip: I got a complete package from our events designer which is inclusive of the decor, photobooth, dessert buffet, host, etc.. It saved me a lot of time and money because I was talking to just one supplier and I was able to haggle for a good compromise. Do not be shy in stretching the coverage of packages. I make sure that I maximize what I will get from the package. For those in which they require additional payments because it is not part of the package, I bargain and make compromises. There is nothing that can not be settled with good conversation.

In the end, the party was a success! We had fun, our guests gave very good feedback and most of all the celebrant is very happy. It was indeed an Awesome 7th birthday celebration!

What a great party! I love the theme. My 7 year old is a huge Lego Movie fan too!
