Push Gifts – Yay or Nay?

Since push gifts are not widely known all over the globe, let us first define first what this gift is. Push gift/present is defined as by Wikipedia as  (also known as a push gift, baby mama gift or baby bauble) is a present a father gives to the mother to mark the occasion of her giving birth to their child. In practice the present may be given before or after the birth, or even in the delivery room. The giving of push presents has supposedly grown in the United States in recent years.A push gift is any type of present loved ones give to a woman who has recently given birth to a child.

Basically, a push gift is a husband or partner’s way of saying thank you for bearing and delivering the baby. In some western countries, this is in a form of jewelry. Common Hollywood push gifts are Cartier diamond studded watches or Tiffany charmed bracelets. But generally, it can be anything.

Some frown on the idea of a push gift. They say that it is impractical and unnecessary. After all, giving birth is a natural thing for moms and having the child itself should be the biggest reward.

As a mom, I agree that push gifts are unnecessary, however it is a nice gesture. A woman’s life changes drastically the moment she gets pregnant; her moods, her appetite , her body. It happens even it is her second, third or fourth pregnancy. Giving birth is another story; it is painful, tiring, but beautiful. A push gift can be a nice way of saying thank you for keeping and delivering the baby safe and sound. It can be a way of saying thank you for selflessly enduring all the pain and difficulties that child bearing and delivery brings. It does not have to be impractical too. It need not be expensive. A bouquet of flowers, a gift certificate for a day of pampering (that she can enjoy once the doctor approves), or just the book that she has been wanting to buy; all of these will be appreciated.

At the end of the day, push gifts are just a token of appreciation. The journey of motherhood continues and intensifies as she gives birth. A simple gift can give her the much needed encouragement for a wonderful journey ahead of her.

For Dads out there, what do you think of push gifts? For moms, disregarding any limitations, what is your dream push gift? I would love to know your thoughts.

Nay!!! It sounds nice and sweet but all the morning sickness, fatigue, cankles and weird cravings is trivial to me once you see that precious face. Makes it all worth it. If it weren’t, mothers would have stopped at one. Baby IMO is gift enough and the mere fact the women’s body did such an Amazon and extraordinary thing.

Men if anything should get the gift. Women are demon spawns when we’re. Pregnant lol. Kidding..
