Feverish First Born

My first born son, Heinel has fever since Sunday. It went as high as 39.5C Monday morning. He also had vomiting episodes coupled with headache and nausea. He was also complaining of a painful throat so we initially thought fever was due to tonsillitis. But when we had him checked by his Pediatrician, she ruled it out because it is not inflamed enough to cause fever. He also has no cough and colds. She advised him to take his medicine (paracetamol), drink plenty of water and restrain from too much physical activity. If fever still persists, he will have to undergo blood test to further check what is causing the on and off fever.

There’s nothing more difficult for a parent than seeing their kids get sick. But now that he is already a preschooler, things got a bit easier because he can now communicate what he feels. During his checkup, he was the one who talked to his doctor to explain what he feels. It makes me really, really proud because he is not shy anymore. At home, he repeatedly reminds me and himself of what his pediatrician told him. Although he finds it a challenge not to be as active as he is, I can very much see his effort. He wants to get well because school starts on Wednesday and he is looking forward to seeing his classmates.

Right now his temperature still goes up but immediately goes down after taking paracetamol. I’m glad he now takes his medicine and can already eat. Hopefully he gets better already because I personally don’t want him to undergo the painful process of a blood test. I wouldn’t want tears to wet that such happy face. Would you believe his fever was high when I took that photo? Get well Kuya (Big Brother) Heinel!
