2015 You’ve Been Awesome!

As year 2015 comes to a close, I can not help but look back on what this year has been to us. For me, it has been a year of milestones, achievements, adventures and new beginnings.

Milestones

2015 is the year we celebrated Heinel’s remarkable 7th birthday. From being a shy and reserved boy, he has emerged into a happy, confident and friendly child. During his party, he was such a gracious host, saying hello to everyone and gamely poses for pictures. Best of all, he and his friends had fun at the party!

Hendrix experienced a major milestone this year in terms of his health. I am so grateful that for the first time in his almost 4 year life, he was not hospitalized for a year! A major milestone for it means that our little boy is stronger and healthier! He did get sick. In fact, we had a major scare when he had a very bad cough towards the Holiday season which lead us to being homebound for the entire Christmas and New Year. But still, I am glad that we can now manage it at home. We are looking forward to a healthier Hendrix in the coming years!

New Beginnings

From being a working mom for the past 6.5 years, it is in 2015 when I took a leap of faith and left the corporate world so I can focus on being a mom to Heinel and Hendrix. It was a  challenge and a scare for me but i am glad that relied to my instinct and just took the plunge! Now I have more time for my family, and myself too!

One of Daddy S and I’s major goal for 2015 is to be more cautious in terms of our health. We both agreed to make it a year of good health for both of us and I am happy that we were able to keep that on track until the end of the year. Daddy S now regularly goes to the gym while I went back to my first love, which is dancing thru Zumba fitness.

Achievements

And the blessings just keep on coming! This year is also a year of harvesting fruits of hardwork. Heinel is starting to make his way into garnering achievements himself. He got his junior yellow belt in Karate during the summer!

Last quarter of the year, Heinel joined a basketball camp and finished it with flying colors! I am happy that Heinel is getting into sports and exploring his talents and capabilities.

Daddy S also had a major work recognition this year by winning an award that led him to represent his company and country, and compete against other representatives from around the world. I have always been a fan of my husband for he is such a silent hardworker and he always shines in everything that he does.

Adventures

This year marks the beginning of our travel adventures with our kids. Now that Hendrix’ health is more stable, we deemed it right to begin letting our kids see the world. I am a firm believer of the great lessons learned by travelling. It exposes them to different cultures, languages, and food. More importantly, I believe travelling teaches children the importance of respecting diversity. We want them to get used to travelling with us while growing up so we can make this a family tradition; something that they will bring with them even as they grow old.

Writing and looking at photos this 2015 just made me realize how blessed we are. It was not a picture perfect year, but I always believed in just looking at the good things that came our way. As we welcome 2016, I can only pray for good health, wisdom and peace for our family. We are blessed and for that I am eternally grateful.

Happy new year my readers! May 2016 be a good one to you and your loved ones! Cheers!
